Panchakarma Instruments / Therapy & Services
Panchakarma (“five actions”) is a set of Ayurvedic cleansing Detox procedures designed to purify the body of toxins, restore balance of doshas (Vata, Pitta, Kapha), improve digestion, and promote overall health. (ayurvedagram.com)
The classical five are:
- Vamana (therapeutic emesis)
- Virechana (purgation)
- Basti (medicated enemas)
- Nasya (nasal administration)
- Raktamokshana (bloodletting), though in many centers Rakthamokshana may be optional or substituted.
Some required instruments/equipment include: massage tables, steam chambers, enema (basti) sets, measuring jars, oil heaters or hot water baths, specialized yantras (devices for dhara, for continuous flow of medicated liquids or oils), steamer units, etc.
Yes. Hygiene, sterilization, appropriate material (e.g. stainless steel), smooth surfaces, good build quality are important. Also, proper temperature control, safety valves in steam chambers, etc. Instruments must be maintained and used by trained staff to avoid injury.
